Dallas issues traffic advisory as the city gears up for the annual holiday parade
Dallas, Texas – The Dallas Holiday Parade, a much-anticipated annual event, is set to bring festive cheer to the city on Saturday, Dec. 2. Starting at 9 a.m., this event promises to attract a large crowd of spectators, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the city. However, residents and visitors should be aware of the significant impact this event will have on traffic, particularly in the Central Business District, due to road closures and parking restrictions.
Parade Preparations and Road Closures
The construction of bleachers in the parking lanes along Commerce Street will reduce available metered parking beginning Tuesday, November 28. Bleacher construction is not to interrupt peak rush hour traffic before 9 a.m. and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. All bleachers will be removed, and meters unhooded, by 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4.
Parade Route and Schedule
The parade route itself is set to start at the corner of Market Street and Commerce Street, proceeding east on Commerce Street, turning right on Harwood Street, and then right on Young Street, before dispersing at Young Street and Akard Street. This route through the heart of Dallas is sure to provide an excellent viewing experience for attendees but also necessitates a series of road closures to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the parade.
A detailed schedule of the road closures has been provided, outlining the full closures of numerous streets in the area on the day of the parade. These include key streets such as Houston St., Hotel St., Reunion Blvd E., Jackson St., Wood St., Record St., Market St., Austin St., Young St., Commerce St., Field St., Ervay St., St. Paul St., Harwood St., Akard St., Marilla St., and Canton St. at various times. Most of these closures will be in effect from the early hours of Dec. 2 until noon or slightly later, depending on the location.
