Dallas police charge teenager with murder following fatal shooting over the weekend
Dallas, Texas – Dallas Police Department officers are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after midnight on Feb. 21, 2026, in a residential area of Dallas. Authorities say the incident happened in the 120 block of Bridges Street and resulted in the death of a 48-year-old man.
According to preliminary findings, officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 12:00 a.m. When they arrived at the location, they discovered that Michael Ellegde had been shot. Despite emergency response efforts, Ellegde was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
Investigators identified 19-year-old Isaac Amaya as the suspect in the shooting. Police took Amaya into custody and transported him to Dallas County Jail. He has been formally charged with murder.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding what led to the shooting. Detectives continue gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
