Dallas police investigate deadly shooting that left one man dead and teen seriously injured
Dallas, Texas – Late Saturday night, Dallas police responded to a shooting that left one man dead and a teenage victim seriously injured. Authorities say the investigation remains active as detectives continue to search for answers.
The incident occurred on March 7, 2026, at approximately 10:29 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Great Trinity Forest Way after receiving reports of a shooting in the area.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Devodrick Lamont Franklin, a 37-year-old man, lying in the doorway of a location with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency responders from Dallas Fire Rescue quickly arrived and provided medical assistance. Franklin was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, he later died from his injuries.
Second Victim Hospitalized With Serious Injuries
Police said a second victim was also involved in the shooting. A 16-year-old male suffered serious injuries during the incident but was able to transport himself to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that the teenager remains in stable condition.
Investigators have not yet released details about what led to the shooting or whether the victims were targeted. Officials also have not said whether the two victims were connected or what events may have unfolded before gunfire erupted.
At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and has been documented under case number 032688-2026. Detectives are actively working to gather additional information and determine what circumstances led to the violence.
