Dallas police investigate Friday night shooting that left one man dead and another injured
Dallas, Texas – Police are investigating a late-night shooting in Dallas that left one man dead and another injured.
Officers with the Dallas Police Department responded to a shooting call at approximately 10:47 p.m. on February 13, 2026, in the 4600 block of Elsie Faye Heggins Street. When officers arrived, they discovered two men had been shot at the location.
Dallas Fire-Rescue Department personnel responded to the scene and determined that 21-year-old Jackie Jernigan had died at the scene. A second man who was wounded was transported to a hospital by private vehicle for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Investigation ongoing
Authorities say the motives and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Detectives are working to determine what led to the violence and whether additional individuals were involved.
The case is being investigated under case number 021025-2026. Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they continue to gather information.
