H-E-B expands in Dallas with Joe V’s Smart Shop

Dallas, Texas – Texas-based grocery giant H-E-B recently celebrated a major expansion by breaking ground on its first Joe V’s Smart Shop in Dallas. This significant development marks the company’s entry into the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area, extending its presence beyond the Houston region. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 20 at 4101 W. Wheatland Rd. in southern Dallas, attended by H-E-B leaders and notable community figures.

The grand opening of this store is scheduled for late summer 2024, introducing the Joe V’s Smart Shop concept to Dallas, a city eagerly anticipating this new shopping experience. Joe V’s Smart Shop, launched in 2010 with currently nine stores operating in Houston, is known for its innovative pricing format that offers substantial discounts. The store prides itself on offering a select range of products, ensuring that each item is unique and carefully chosen.

Dallas is set to see not just one, but two Joe V’s Smart Shop locations. The first store, located at 4101 W. Wheatland Rd. near Highway 67, is gearing up for its opening in late summer 2024. The second store, positioned at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd. at the junction of Samuell Street, is expected to open in spring 2025. These stores are anticipated to make a significant impact in the heart of Dallas, bringing a new shopping option to the community.

Distinguishing itself with a smaller footprint than a full-scale H-E-B store, Joe V’s Smart Shop focuses on a smaller, more curated selection of about 9,000 items. This is in contrast to the average supermarket which typically stocks around 37,000 items. Despite its smaller size, the store doesn’t compromise on quality and variety. Among its offerings are the popular in-store H-E-B Bakery tortillas, H-E-B Sushiya’s on-site sushi crafting, chef-inspired H-E-B Meal Simple choices, and a delightful range of freshly baked bread and pastries.

Each store, averaging 55,000 square feet, is also set to be a boon for local employment, with plans to create job opportunities for approximately 150 individuals at each location. This initiative reflects H-E-B’s commitment to contributing positively to the local workforce and community.

Roxanne Orsak, the Chief Operating Officer at H-E-B, expressed her enthusiasm about the Dallas launch, emphasizing the company’s goal to extend its reach and better serve the growing customer base in this vibrant Texas region. With the introduction of Joe V’s Smart Shop, H-E-B continues to evolve and meet the changing needs of its customers while reinforcing its strong presence in the Texas grocery market.
