Joya playground in Farmers Branch set to illuminate childhood fun
Farmers Branch, Texas – Farmers Branch, a Texas town just 20 minutes outside of Dallas, is set to open a unique playground that promises to be a delightful experience for families. Named “Joya,” which translates to “Jewel” in English, this playground is poised to become the “crown jewel” of playgrounds in the area. According to Joya’s website, the official opening date is set for January 20, making it an eagerly awaited event in the community.
Spanning 18,000 square feet, Joya isn’t just any ordinary playground. It’s a glow-in-the-dark playground, designed to be accessible and enjoyable both during the day and at night. Once the sun sets, the playground will transform with interactive features that emit a captivating glow. This design allows for extended playtime, offering a unique experience after dark.
The playground is packed with exciting features. It includes a towering 27-foot climbing sphere, various slides, swings, an engaging obstacle course, and even zip lines. There’s also a dedicated area for toddlers, ensuring that the youngest visitors have a safe and fun space to play. Adding to the ambiance, the playground is adorned with signature LED lights throughout.
What makes Joya stand out is its interactivity. The playground is equipped with changing color lights and a sound system that plays ambient nature sounds. During festive seasons like Christmas, visitors can expect to hear holiday music, adding to the park’s charm.
Farmers Branch has also planned to host family-oriented activities at Joya, ranging from arts and cultural events to educational opportunities. Food trucks will be present to cater to the culinary needs of visitors. The opening day itself promises to be a gala event, starting at 6 p.m. with the official lighting of the playground scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Attendees can look forward to a food truck and free swag. The playground is free to access, though it is noted that pets, except service animals, are not allowed.
Situated at the corner of Tom Field Road and Valley View Lane, the construction of Joya has been funded through grants from the State of Texas Parks & Wildlife and the Federal American Rescue Plan Act. This innovative playground is a testament to the community’s commitment to providing unique recreational spaces that can be enjoyed by all.
