Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar unharmed following an armed carjacking in Washington, DC
Texas Democratic Representative Henry Cuellar fell victim to an armed carjacking in the Navy Yard area of Washington, DC, on Monday evening. According to the DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, the incident took place at the intersection of K Street and New Jersey Avenue Southeast. According to the DC Police, the carjacking occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m.
Jacob Hochberg, Cuellar’s Chief of Staff, recounted the terrifying ordeal. He explained that as Congressman Cuellar was in the process of parking his car, three armed assailants suddenly approached him and forcibly stole his vehicle. Thankfully, Cuellar emerged from the harrowing encounter unharmed.
Hochberg expressed his gratitude to the local law enforcement agencies involved in swiftly responding to the incident. “Thank you to Metro PD and Capitol Police for their swift action and for recovering the Congressman’s vehicle,” he stated.
As the investigation unfolds, police are on the hunt for three male suspects involved in the armed carjacking. The incident has left many shocked and concerned about the safety of public officials and citizens alike in the nation’s capital.
