Dallas, Texas – Pershing Elementary School’s principal, Lourdes Morales-Figueroa, has achieved a notable distinction in the Dallas Independent School District (ISD). For the academic year 2023-2024, she has been honored as one of the Dallas ISD’s Master Principals. This prestigious recognition places her among the top echelon of educational leaders in the district.
The Master Principal designation is an annual award recognizing the top 10% of principals across three categories: elementary schools, secondary schools, and choice schools. To be eligible, principals must have at least three years of service within the Dallas ISD and are assessed based on their personal performance as well as the performance of their campus in the preceding school year.
Morales-Figueroa’s journey to this achievement began before her tenure at Pershing Elementary. She previously served as the assistant principal at Nathan Adams Elementary School. During her time there, she played a pivotal role in transforming the Dual Language Bilingual Two-Way program. Her leadership was instrumental in establishing the New Dual Language Two-Way Bilingual Model, which was implemented in 2015.
Now, at Pershing Elementary, Morales-Figueroa continues to demonstrate her commitment to educational excellence. Her focus remains steadfast on providing the best learning opportunities for students. She actively supports her faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative environment. Her goal is to make Pershing the first Elementary STEAM Collegiate Academy in the Dallas ISD.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership, Morales-Figueroa will receive a $10,000 stipend. Additionally, she will be celebrated at the Master Principal Recognition event scheduled for February 1 at the Joule Hotel. This honor not only recognizes her past achievements but also her ongoing efforts to enhance the educational landscape in Dallas ISD.
